Update on the Unified Judicial System's E-file and Serve Project

In October, we reported on the Unified Judicial System's new case management system, which will allow statewide online filing of documents, payments, and access to court records. On January 2, the State Court Administrator announced that the UJS's E-file and Serve Project for subsequent filings in criminal cases is expanding statewide this month. As of January 29, attorneys will be able to e-file documents in criminal cases in all South Dakota counties.  Attorneys and support staff may now register to use South Dakota's File and Serve Portal.

In an interview with the Sioux Falls Argus Leader, State Court Administrator Greg Sattizahn stated that online filing in civil cases will be available in March. By November, all South Dakota court documents will be filed electronically.

Training sessions for attorneys and staff are scheduled for January 17 in Sioux Falls at the Sheraton, January 24 in Aberdeen at the Ramada, and January 27 in Pierre at the Ramkota. These sessions will be held at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in all three locations. Attendance is limited to fifty people per session. You may register at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/EfileTrainingRegistration.

You also may register for one-hour webinar training sessions. These sessions are scheduled for January 13, 15, 17, 22 and 24, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
