Martin Luther King Jr. Day is January 20

Monday, January 20 is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a federal holiday which is observed on the third Monday in January each year in honor of Dr. King.

The McKusick Law Library is currently featuring a display which highlights print resources in the library's collection about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his contributions to the civil rights movement in the United States.

Titles featured in the display include:

The display also provides links to online resources regarding Dr. King, including a digital archive of Dr. King's speeches, correspondence, photographs and more, maintained by the King Center.  Information is also available on the national MLK Day of Service, which was designated by Congress in 1994 and is incorporated in the President's call to service initiative, United We Serve.

The McKusick Law Library will be closed on Monday, January 20.  For more information on volunteer activities in the Vermillion community for the MLK Day of Service and the keynote address by Dawn Fraser, see the University of South Dakota's press release here
